CBSE School Timing Guidelines: What Parents Need to Know in 2025

The CBSE school scheduling rules for 2025 stress the importance of being able to change one's schedule without losing out on the quality of education. The Central Board of Secondary Education has changed the suggested timeframes to better fit the goals of NEP 2020.

Most CBSE schools open for six or seven hours a day. The secondary classes (VI–XII) last longer than the elementary classes (I–V). There will be an assembly from 7:45 to 8:00 in the morning. There will be six sessions, each lasting 40 to 45 minutes, with two 45-minute breaks in between.

Every class has a different start and end time because it is very important for kids to learn at their own pace. Usually, pre-primary sessions last for three to four hours and are made up of different activities. Elementary sessions last between five and six hours, with breaks of 90 minutes in between. Longer days (7–8 hours) give students in secondary and senior secondary schools more time to study for board exams and focus on their individual classes.

The breaks and assembly times in the CBSE schedule are very important. People can meet each other and learn more about their country at morning assemblies. Students can stay focused and get better at talking to each other by taking breaks and using nap time. During lunchtime, there are also national nutrition programs, which are especially common in public CBSE schools.

Most parent-teacher conferences happen in the morning (7:00–8:00 AM) or the late afternoon (3:00–4:00 PM) so that working parents can attend. Many CBSE schools now let parents and teachers talk to each other at different times and in different ways, like through the internet.

New CBSE rules say that you need to make good use of your time in order to make school less stressful. The CBSE is changing its rules about how to schedule classes to follow the NEP 2020 model, which says that students should have 29 hours of class time each week to help them balance school and life.

Schools can change their schedules based on the weather as long as they are teaching the CBSE curriculum. Because of this flexibility, you can change things to fit your needs without losing sight of your educational goals.

For parents and schools to have a good working relationship, parents should talk to each other about scheduling issues and stay up to date on changes to scheduling policy through official CBSE channels and school communications.
